In recent work, I also look at patterns of online social segregation, such as on Facebook. In this line of research I study how strongly social connections are ethnically segregated, such as among friendships of adolescents in school, and I try to discover what the main mechanisms are that cause network segregation. Ethnically mixed friendships are often seen as a key indicator of social integration.
